New Horizons Senior Grant Fund Program

–Application Closed–

Intake of New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) funding proposals for community-based projects empowering seniors to remain active, engaged community members is underway.

Glen Motz, Member of Parliament for Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner encourages organizations with projects led or inspired by seniors to apply for up to $25,000 in federal government grant funding to promote positive aging through sharing of knowledge, skills and experiences with others, and to help their communities increase the capacity to address local issues.

“Seniors contributions to our communities continues to excel,” stated Motz. “And with grant funding available, programming for events and activities that fully engage and foster personal growth is possible. We all benefit from our association with dynamic seniors.”

Eligible projects for consideration under the NHSP initiative must address one or more of the following objectives:
• promote volunteerism among seniors and other generations;
• engage seniors in the community through the mentoring of others;
• expand awareness of elder abuse, including financial abuse;
• support the social participation and inclusion of seniors; or
• provide capital assistance for new and existing community projects and/or programs for seniors.

The NHSP call for proposals will close June 23, 2017. Funding decisions will be announced in early 2018.
