Proposals open for Western Innovation Initiative funding


MEDICINE HAT – Western Economic Diversification Canadas (WD) has launched call-for-proposals under the Western Innovation (WINN) Initiative, to assist western Canadian businesses build competitive innovation capabilities to seize opportunities in the global marketplace.

“This five-year program was created by Canada’s Conservative Government in 2013, and continues to support western Canada’s small-and medium-sized enterprises to grow and move their innovative technologies from the later stages of research and development to the global marketplace,” said Glen Motz, Member of Parliament for Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner

With a priority focus on clean technology and resources, digital technology, advanced manufacturing, value added agriculture, and health biological sciences, WINN offers repayable contributions to western Canadian businesses with less than 500 employees, to commercialize and bring to market innovative technology-based products, processes or services. The repayable contributions cover up to 50 percent of total eligible costs for each project, to a maximum of $3.5 million per project.
